The American Legion Family

Our Post Family

Our Post, as the parent organization, has three other units in our local Legion family. They are:

AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY (ALA) UNIT

Founded in 1919, the American Legion Auxiliary is the oldest member of the Legion Family of units and the most independent. The Auxiliary is a separate organization with their own legal and corporate identity. 

Meeting: 2nd Wednesday @ 1900

SONS OF THE AMERICAN LEGION (SAL) SQUADRON

Founded in 1932, Sons of the American Legion (SAL) squadron consists of boys and men of all ages whose grandparents or parents served in the U.S. Armed Forces.

Meeting: 4th Wednesday @ 1900

AMERICAN LEGION RIDERS (ALR) CHAPTER

The American Legion Riders (ALR) are Legionnaires who are also motorcycle enthusiasts. The all belong to the Legion, the Legion Auxiliary or the Sons of the American Legion. Legion Riders are well known for their charitable work.

Welcome to the American Legion Riders - Chapter 71 in Clayton, NC

We look forward to riding with your riding with our Chapter and your participation in all of our events. The national Eligibility Requirements for Riders are:

  • Members must hold membership in and be in good standing with The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary or Sons of The American Legion.
  • Members must be legally registered motorcycle owners or be the legally registered owner's spouse within the state of registration.
  • All operators must be properly licensed and insured per state laws.
  • All members must obey motor-vehicle laws in the state in which they are operating a motorcycle or riding as a passenger.

Our regular meeting is on the second Monday of every month, at 6:00 PM at Post 71. Your presence will add to our fellowship, and your input into our activities will be welcome.

If you have questions about notations or placement of patches, just ask.

You will be kept abreast of all meetings, planned rides and events by emails from the Director, Road Captain or the Rider member organizing the event.
